Naperville Public Library Hours for All Three Branches

Naperville Public Library hours are the same at all three locations from Monday to Saturday: 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. on weekdays and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturdays. Sunday is the day to check carefully, because closing time depends on the branch and the season. Below you'll find a live open-or-closed check, the full weekly schedule for each branch, the remaining 2026 holiday closures and the library's official phone numbers.

Naperville Public Library weekly hours by branch

The Naperville Public Library runs three full-service buildings: Nichols Library downtown, Naper Blvd. Library on the city's southeast side and 95th Street Library in south Naperville. They share one schedule Monday through Saturday, which makes the library easy to plan around on most days. Each table below shows the regular weekly hours for one location as published by the library for 2026.

Regular hours apply unless the library lists a closing or an early closing for that date. Those are covered in the holiday section below and, in more detail, in our Naperville library holiday closures guide. For what each building offers beyond the hours, see the branch-by-branch guide.

Sunday hours and the summer schedule

Sunday is the only day of the week when the three Naperville libraries keep different hours. Every location opens at 1 p.m. What changes is the closing time:

Sunday closing time by branch and season
BranchSeptember–MayJune–August
Nichols Library1–9 p.m.1–5 p.m.
Naper Blvd. Library1–5 p.m.1–5 p.m.
95th Street Library1–9 p.m.1–5 p.m.

Right now (November 2026) the school-year schedule is in effect, so Nichols and 95th Street are open until 9 p.m. on Sundays and Naper Blvd. closes at 5 p.m. The shorter summer Sundays begin in June. If you are planning a Sunday-evening study session, a downtown or south-side branch is the one to choose.

Adding it up, Nichols and 95th Street are each open 76 hours a week from September through May (60 weekday hours, 8 on Saturday and 8 on Sunday) and 72 hours a week in summer. Naper Blvd. is open 72 hours a week all year, because its Sunday is always four hours long.

Why some websites show a different Sunday time

Several directory and map listings show “Sunday 1–9 p.m.” for every season, or list one set of hours for all three buildings. The library's own page is the authority: the 9 p.m. Sunday close applies only to Nichols and 95th Street, and only from September through May.

Curbside pickup hours

If you only need to collect items on hold, curbside pickup lets you stay in your car. It is offered at all three locations and ends 30 minutes before each building closes:

Curbside pickup hours (all locations unless noted)
DayCurbside hours
Monday–Friday9 a.m.–8:30 p.m.
Saturday9 a.m.–4:30 p.m.
Sunday, Naper Blvd.1–4:30 p.m.
Sunday, Nichols & 95th Street1–8:30 p.m. (Sept.–May); 1–4:30 p.m. (June–Aug.)
  1. Place a hold in the catalog and wait for the notice that it is ready. The notice names the “Pickup Here” location.
  2. About 15 minutes before you arrive, call 630-961-4100 and choose option 1 to let staff know you're coming.
  3. Park in a space signed for library curbside pickup and call the number posted on the sign. Staff bring your items out.

Holiday closures and early closings

The library publishes a full-year list of closings. These are the changes still ahead in 2026, as listed on November 3, 2026:

Nichols Library alone closed on September 4 and 5 for the downtown Last Fling festival and opened at 1 p.m. on March 14 for the St. Patrick's Day parade and race.

The 2027 closings had not been posted when we checked. Our holiday closures and special hours guide keeps the full 2026 calendar and explains what to expect while the 2027 dates are pending.

Planning a visit around the hours

Knowing the open hours is the first step. A few library rules affect how much you can get done in the time you have:

  • Study rooms are free and first come, first served at all three locations. You sign in, and the time limit is an hour and a half per use, which staff may extend if nobody is waiting. They cannot be booked ahead.
  • Conference rooms can be reserved by any Naperville Public Library cardholder for $10 an hour, up to four hours a day. Meeting rooms require an adult cardholder and a reservation made more than 10 days ahead. Details are in our library services guide.
  • Public computers are open to all customers whether or not they hold a card, and Wi-Fi is provided for your own devices. Black-and-white printing costs $0.10 per side.
  • 3D printing takes up to 7 to 10 days and is picked up at 95th Street Library, so allow time before a deadline.
  • Parking at Nichols can be tight. A July 2026 NCTV17 report put the library lot at 130 spaces, and a parking deck is still only a proposal. Curbside pickup or one of the other branches can be easier at busy times.
  • No card yet? Incorporated Naperville residents 18 and older can register online. Our Naperville library card guide covers residents, unincorporated households and reciprocal borrowers.

Unplanned closings can also happen. The library posts schedule changes on its Hours, Holidays, and Closings page, so it's worth a quick look before a long drive, especially around holidays and big downtown events.

Naperville library hours FAQ

What are the Naperville Public Library hours today?

On a regular weekday (Monday through Friday) all three locations are open 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. On Saturday they are open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. On Sunday every location opens at 1 p.m.; Nichols Library and 95th Street Library close at 9 p.m. from September through May and at 5 p.m. in June, July and August, while Naper Blvd. Library closes at 5 p.m. all year. Holidays and special events can change this, so check the closings list first.

Is the Naperville library open on Sundays?

Yes. All three locations are normally open on Sunday afternoons starting at 1 p.m. The exceptions in 2026 were holiday weekends: every location was closed on Easter Sunday (April 5), on Sunday, May 24 (Memorial Day weekend) and on Sunday, September 6 (Labor Day weekend).

Which Naperville library branch is open latest on Sunday?

From September through May, Nichols Library (downtown) and 95th Street Library stay open until 9 p.m. on Sundays. Naper Blvd. Library closes at 5 p.m. on Sundays year-round. In June, July and August all three close at 5 p.m. on Sundays.

Is the Naperville Public Library open on Thanksgiving 2026?

No. All locations are closed on Thursday, November 26, 2026, and they close early, at 5 p.m., on Wednesday, November 25. Friday, November 27 does not appear on the library's closings list, so regular Friday hours (9 a.m. to 9 p.m.) are expected.

Is the library open on Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve?

All locations are closed on Thursday, December 24 and Friday, December 25, 2026. On Thursday, December 31, 2026, all locations close early at 5 p.m. As of November 3, 2026, the library had not yet published its 2027 schedule, including New Year's Day 2027 (in 2026 it closed on January 1).

What is the Naperville Public Library phone number?

Do the hours differ between the three branches?

Only on Sundays. Monday through Saturday the schedule is identical at Nichols, Naper Blvd. and 95th Street. Occasionally a single location changes hours for a local event; in 2026, for example, Nichols Library opened late on the day of the downtown St. Patrick's Day parade and closed for the Last Fling festival.

Can I pick up holds without going inside?

Yes. Curbside pickup is offered at all three locations for items on hold. It runs Monday through Friday 9 a.m. to 8:30 p.m., Saturday 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and on Sundays until 30 minutes before that location closes. Call 630-961-4100 (option 1) about 15 minutes before you arrive.

Does the Naperville library charge late fines?

No. According to the library's Borrowing & Fees page, it does not charge fines for overdue items. Instead, an account is locked once an item is seven days overdue, and a replacement fee is billed at 45 days overdue.
