Naperville Public Library Services: Rooms, Printing and Digital Resources

Beyond borrowing books, the Naperville Public Library offers free study rooms, bookable conference and meeting rooms, low-cost printing, a 3D printing service, recording studios and a large digital collection. This guide collects the rules and prices the library publishes, so you know what's free, what costs money and what needs a reservation before you go.

Study rooms are available at Nichols, Naper Blvd. and 95th Street, and conference rooms are at all locations. Because study rooms can't be reserved, arriving early in the day gives you the best chance; the room is yours for an hour and a half, and staff can extend that when nobody is waiting. Check our Naperville Public Library hours page so you don't arrive in the last hour before closing.

Two different time limits in circulation

The library's Room Reservations page (checked November 3, 2026) gives a 1½-hour study room limit. An older copy of the library's room-use policy, still online as a PDF, mentions a one-hour limit when others are waiting. We use the figure from the current reservations page; staff at the desk have the final word.

Computers, Wi-Fi, printing and fax

Public computers with internet access, the catalog and library databases are open to all customers whether or not they hold a card, and Wi-Fi is provided for your own devices. Printing and copying are charged per side:

Printing and copying fees (per side)

Letter/legal, black and white$0.10$0.20
Letter/legal, color$0.25$0.50

Remote printing means sending a job from your own phone or laptop through the library's mobile printing portal; it costs twice the walk-up rate. Faxing is done at the Simple Scan Stations for $1.00 per side domestic and $2.00 per side international. Scanning is offered at public computers; the library lists it as a fee service without giving a price, so ask at the desk. Each branch has a direct public computer line: Nichols 630-637-6335, Naper Blvd. 630-637-2302, 95th Street 630-637-4990.

Creative tech: 3D printing, studios and converters

3D printing requests

  • Submit an online request with an .stl file designed in millimeters, under 25 MB.
  • Prints are PLA plastic in one color per object, up to 11.5 × 11.5 × 15.5 inches.
  • Cost is $0.20 per gram of the finished object; the form asks the most you're willing to pay.
  • Allow up to 7 to 10 days, then pick up at 95th Street Library.

Media studios

The green screen room and sound recording studio are both at 95th Street Library. They're for Naperville and reciprocal cardholders of high school age or older, an orientation is required before first use, and Naperville cardholders can reserve with priority. The library doesn't list a fee for either room on its Media Studios page.

Equipment and software

The library's equipment list includes a book binding machine, button makers, an embroidery sewing machine, laminator, Silhouette cutter, flatbed and photo scanners, a VHS-to-DVD converter and a film and slide converter. Creative software includes Adobe Creative Suite, DaVinci Resolve and Audacity. At the Creative Software Computers, customers get two hours of dedicated time for most equipment (four hours for video conversion), and cardholders can reserve up to two weeks ahead in person or by phone. Branch-specific items are covered in the Naperville library branch guide.
