Privacy Policy
Effective date: November 3, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains what information The Hours Shelf (napervillepubliclibraryhours.shop, “we”) collects when you visit the site and how it is used. The site is an independent guide and has no connection to the Naperville Public Library's systems.
Information we collect
Server logs
Like most websites, our hosting provider automatically records standard request data: IP address, browser type, device type, referring page, pages requested and the date and time. We use these logs to keep the site secure and working and to understand overall traffic. They are not used to identify you personally.
Information you send us
If you email us, we receive your email address and whatever you include in the message. We use it only to reply and to improve the site, and we don't sell it.
Cookies
Cookies are small text files stored by your browser. The site itself doesn't need cookies to work. Third parties, such as advertising and analytics providers, may set cookies as described below.
Advertising and Google AdSense
We may use Google AdSense to display ads. Google and other third-party vendors use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website and other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies, including the DoubleClick cookie, enables Google and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this site and/or other sites on the internet.
- You can learn how Google uses information from sites that use its services at policies.google.com/technologies/ads.
- You can opt out of personalized advertising from Google in Google Ads Settings.
- You can opt out of some third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalized advertising at www.aboutads.info/choices.
Where required by law, a consent message provided by Google may ask for your choices before personalized ads are shown.
Analytics
We may use a privacy-respecting analytics service to count visits and see which pages are useful. Such services typically use cookies or similar technology to collect aggregated information such as pages viewed, approximate location (country or region) and device type. We use this information only in aggregate.
Embedded content
Some pages embed Google Maps so you can see where each library is. When a map loads, Google may receive your IP address and set cookies under its own privacy policy. Links to the library's website and other sites lead to pages with their own privacy practices.
Your US state privacy rights (including California)
Depending on where you live, laws such as the California Consumer Privacy Act (as amended by the CPRA) and similar laws in other states may give you the right to know what personal information is collected, to request deletion or correction, and to opt out of the “sale” or “sharing” of personal information for targeted advertising. We do not sell personal information for money. To opt out of personalized ads, use the Google and aboutads.info links above, or enable a browser setting such as Global Privacy Control. To make a request, email contact@napervillepubliclibraryhours.shop. We won't discriminate against you for exercising these rights.
Visitors from the EEA, UK and Switzerland (GDPR)
If you visit from the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, we process limited data on the basis of our legitimate interest in running a secure website, and on your consent for advertising cookies where required. You have the right to access, correct, delete or restrict the processing of your data, to object, to data portability and to withdraw consent at any time. You may also complain to your local data protection authority. Contact contact@napervillepubliclibraryhours.shop to exercise these rights.
Children's privacy (COPPA)
This site is intended for a general audience and is not directed at children under 13. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, email contact@napervillepubliclibraryhours.shop and we will delete it.
Data retention and security
We keep emails only as long as needed to respond and maintain a record of corrections. Server logs are kept for a limited period by our host. No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect information.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the site changes, for example when advertising is enabled. The effective date at the top will show when it was last revised.
